Chewie, we're home.
"Chewie, we're home". This past week those three little words broke the internet. Which is awesome because if something were to break the internet it should be Han Solo and not Kim Kardashian's ass. This past Thursday Disney finally released another two minutes of video for us all to salivate over and analyze to death. With that being said I am now going to help the Star Wars The Force Awakens hype machine along and over analyze to death the second teaser trailer for Star Wars The Force Awakens.
This trailer has a lot of the things us fan boys really wanted from the first trailer. The trailer opens with the familiar Lucasfilm logo and a very familiar John Williams Star Wars theme and shifts focus to a speeder moving across the desert. We then see a fallen X wing and in the back a crashed star destroyer which quite frankly looks awesome.
Thirty-five seconds in the trailer kicks into high gear. We get a Mark Hamill voice over! Luke Skywalker himself talks about how the force is strong in his family. The force is strong with him, his father, his sister, and "you have that power too". So who is this that has this power too? Is it a Luke Skywalker offspring? Is it a Han Solo/Princess Leia offspring like we saw in the non-cannon novels, or is it someone completely out of left field? We do see what appears the be Leia passing a light saber to a child or young woman so I would speculate that it is in fact the daughter of Han and Leia. The other thing we see during this voice over is a melted Darth Vader helmet. What? So let me get this straight. Luke Skywalker saves his father's body from certain destruction on the death star, brings it down to the forest moon of Endor, burns him, and then pulls his helmet out of the fire and saves it as a keepsake? If you were gonna save it why didn't you put it aside before you burned your father's body. Plus he didn't show up to the "nub yub" party with it on Endor. Did he head back to the Imperial Shuttle and store it in the glove box? Boggles the mind. After this we see Luke (cloaked, but we know it's him because of the mechanical hand touching R2) with R2-D2 on what appears to be Mustafar? Mustafar is of course the lava planet from the end of Episode 3. Why did Luke go there? Is he just being super nostalgic and went back to the planet where his father got his ass kicked because Obi-Wan had the "high ground" and was up on a hill (don't even get me started).
Moving on we get the card stating the movie is coming out this Christmas (like I wasn't already counting down the days) and a real quick montage of action packed scenes. We see the mystery storm trooper from the first trailer, a young lady who looks remarkably like Natalie Portman running, X-Wings flying over the water, the Falcon fleeing from tie fighters, and more of the mysterious Sith figure with his 3 bladed light saber,
This all leads to those three glorious words..."Chewie, we're home". We finally get to see one of our heroes from the original trilogy on screen in their entirety. No cloak, no veils, nothing - just the man himself Han Solo and his buddy Chewie. Harrison's ford wardrobe looks to have been updated slightly. He's traded in his vest for what appears to be a pretty slick leather jacket and a white shirt with a popped collar. Harrison looks great and Chewie - well he hasn't aged a day.
