Everything is fine.
Well everybody - it's been a long, long time and I really have no excuse (everything is fine). I went looking through my blog drafts and found and unfinished review of The Force Awakens which just let me briefly tell you - I really enjoyed. Why no full review? Quite frankly It just became way to long. The way I was reviewing it was scene by scene and I couldn't do it anymore. The first 10 minutes was almost three pages and that's where I stopped.
Now however, for this post at least - I am back. The title of this post "Everything is fine" is not just a play on my current state but also a reference to one of my favorite new shows and quite frankly probably the cleverest comedy to come out in the last ten years...The Good Place.
I'm going to do my very best to sell this show to all of you without spoiling it. The basic premise of the show is this - Eleanor (Kristen Bell) had died and the show begins with her entry into the afterlife. Her guide to the afterlife is Michael (Ted Danson). The show does an excellent job of very quickly and comically answering many of our questions regarding the shows premise. Basically the after life is composed of the good place, and the bad place and all the actions of your life were scored and a decision is made as to where you go. The show does a great job of avoiding religion entirely but I'm sure some people are offended by this premise. It's a fun tv show - that's all.
It is quickly revealed however that Eleanor does not belong. A mistake was made and she was supposed to be in the bad place. The show follow her throughout the serialized 13 episode first season and her journey to stay in the good place. This is a show that I cannot believe NBC put on the air but I am glad that they did. It's a big risk for a major tv network to put a show like this on the air. A viewer can't check into this show casually. Each episode begins immediately after the preceding episode. This is a show designed to be binge watched and I recommend you do so right now! You will not be sorry.
Until next time I hope you found your time on this site to be time (and bandwidth) well wasted.
